That will be hilarious because there will so many huge people beating the liveing daylight out of each other that it will be hillarious.
Steroids alone don't get anyone to professional sports competition. Instead, intense and thoughtful practice over a long period of time is needed. So it hardly seems likely that fundamentally poor athletes are going to be promoted to a hypothetical Steroid League. Instead, we'd likely see excellent performers' being allowed to use chemicals to improve their performance further, redounding to the benefit of fans. People shouldn't take performance-enhancing drugs that will cause serious harm to their health, and shouldn't be given a financial incentive to do so. But there's no reason to think that prudent use of these drugs would necessarily be impossible. Athletes, after all, have a strong interest in keeping themselves healthy, so as to have long and successful careers. Regulatory organizations and procedures could help monitor the situation, just as they do now, but without the hypocrisy and sanctimony that currently prevails. Honesty is generally best.
It's not like it harming us. We always say how bad it is for us but we aren't the ones taking them, so why should we care? People choose steroids to blame because they cannot hit 756 home runs, because they cannot win seven consecutive Tours de France, or win the World's Strongest Man, or go set for set with Federer. So, they sit with their morals and their drinks and yell "Cheater!" If sport participaters choose that way to go, then it's their choice. They're living up to our expectations in life. How else would they do it when the public is always pushing, bigger, better, faster, more!
When i watch sports like football and basketball, i watch for only one reason and that reason is to see someone dominate. I want to see a six foot eight, three hundred pound man run a 4.4 forty and land a huge hit on the quarterback. I don't feel bad about the negative affects of steroids because it is the choice of the user. Steroid leagues would allow viewers see the best parts of sports, like the big dunks, huge hits, and home-runs more often.
Although it could be somewhat entertaining to have a steroid league, I don't think that we should be encouraging people to take substances that might harm their body. Steroid use has long-term effects on the health and well-being of people that use them. Offering a place for steroid users to draw attention to themselves would only increase steroid use.
Steroids have ruined major sports. I can't imagine anyone trying to create an all-steroid league, any legislative body allowing one to exist, or any advertisers wishing to associate themselves with it. So, no, not only do I find the idea of a "Steroid League" repulsive, I seriously doubt one could be created in the first place.
I wouldn't be interested in watching a "Steroid League" for any sport. Competition is fair, and it requires ability to perform, not the ability to cheat with performance enhancing drugs. Steroids would take the fun out of any game, and statistics, emotions, rivalries, standings, anything and everything, would be compromised. I have absolutely no interest in seeing any sport stoop this low, even if the proper league is still playing alongside it.
I would not be interested in watching steroid league for any sport on television because children that idolize sports players would be given the message that it is okay to use body enhancing drugs to perform better in a sport. I think that the people that are making these athletes rich by watching them should be given some consideration and keep players drug or steroid free.
Steroids are dangerous and harmful to the body. Allowing them in sports for the purpose of televising it would promote their use, which we should never do.
I feel it would be so irresponsible to allow a league that encouraged steroid use. Steroids are an illegal drug when used for performance enhancement. We as a society should in no way condone this dangerous drug that gives athletes more power without any extra work. This would encourage others into thinking that hard work is not needed to succeed as an athlete.
Steroid use is extremely hazardous to a person's health, and I think that the promotion of this type of behavior is harmful in society. If steroid use is glamorized, youth will look forward to using them as well, to improve their performance. Steroids cause even more harm to a child's body, and we should do what we can to glamorize working hard to achieve goals with your natural talents, instead of relying on drugs to be our best.
I would not watch a league composed of athletes on steroids. First, it promotes a nearly unattainable ideal of people who are faster, stronger, and bigger than people naturally are. If people try to accomplish these standards they will be harming their bodies. Additionally, the athletes are harming their own bodies with the steroids since there are many known side effects to those drugs.
Many athletes use steroids because they believe that it will help them to excel in their chosen field, but using steroids can lead to harsh side effects and cause severe and permanent damage. So if a "Steroid League" will be shown, it really just5 shows off steroids and not the athletes' own talents.
Sports are supposed to be competitions between different players, not a competition of drugs. Its great and interesting to see how athletes have disciplined and trained themselves to be incredibly fit and able to perform amazing feats. However, that doesn't mean that steroids would be just as good. It would turn into a race find the better chemicals, and the spirit of the sport would be lost. A "Steroid League" would just not be (fun) sports to watch.
I don't think it would be appropriate to make steroid use a part of any sport. Morality aside using a drug to achieve victory in any contest defeats the purpose. Sports competition is to determine the better athlete(s), not to see which body can better tolerate a performance enhancing drug. Also, I believe it would be a slippery slope for our young people to see adults using steroids as a means to a better future.
Steroids have been proved to be dangerous to the human body. In addition to being dangerous for the person taking the steroids, they are also dangerous to those around the person. 'Road rage has been shown to occur in people taking steroids and it causes violent outbursts that could cause harm to loved ones and others. For these reasons, I would have no desire to watch a Steroid League. I don't feel that this would show someone's true talent and skill at a sport. It is only showing what a drug can help someone do.
The reason most people watch a sport is because of the natural talent of an athlete. If this talent is fogged by drugs to the point where you really do not have any "talent" what so ever then I do not see most people getting enjoyment out of watching. An athlete that has been artificially enhanced is something that any individual on this planet could be. There would not be anything special about these individuals anymore. If all it takes is some steroids to give you the size you need to hit a baseball far then I could do it!
Using steroids or other "performance enhancing" drugs, including legal ones, takes away from a persons natural abilities. Promoting a sport that encourages drug use would not only be dangerous for the athletes that participate, but it would also be an influence on the people that watch the sport. Every aspect of this idea is dangerous.
American athletes shouldn't resort to steroids/drugs period. If you train hard then that's good enough - Babe Ruth was out of shape and smoked for Pete's sake and he was exceptional. We already have an alarming prescription drug problem in America today and I am just not comfortable with the promotion of a steroid league - kids are just too vulnerable to hype. Let's keep our heroes real, part of the charm is thinking that with training and talent anyone could be good.
