  • Yes, US has the responsibility to go to the war.

If North Korea does not heed the international requests made to denuclearize the country, it will bring in a tremendous tension and a near state of war in East Asia. North Korea purposefully raided South Korea in a series of occasions, killing many innocent civilians and destroying infrastructures. These evil deeds of North Korea alone is enough to justify the United States and other Allied countries declaring war on North Korea. However, North Korea does not seem to have any intention of negotiations or to end its foolish nuclear programs, therefore it is important for the world's number one power to step up and take strong actions against these mad dogs in order to secure the current situations in East Asia, as well as to end decades of dictatorship in North Korea.

  • North Korea not only poses a threat to the United States but the rest of the world.

Going to war is a serious thing. However, for the sake of protecting countries that can not protect themselves, I believe the United States should intervene. Should a bully be allowed to terrorize the weak and helpless? That is the threat that North Korea poses to other countries and that is the reason the US should wage war if they continue to ignore the world.

  • Yes, United States should wage war with North Korea because of the failure of Diplomacy and also on behalf of the US citizens who are imprisoned in North Korea and treated very badly.

North Korea has engaged in an act of War against the United States of America and have already sentenced a pair of American citizens to 12 years in prison in North Korea after a kangaroo court convicted them because of bad judgment.

  • I do not believe that war is going to solve anything for either side, nuclear weapons or not, so the US should not go to war with Korea.

Despite what North Korea decides to pursue as far as nuclear weapons, the US is not in a position for another war unless it is absolutely necessary. Just because North Korea wants nuclear weapons, it does not mean we have to go to war with them. If they make threats, then that would be a reason. However, it is not in the best interest of our country to go to war with North Korea. It would not solve anything. They are going to do what they want to do, and we cannot stop them. Now if they make threats, we can go about stopping them a different way. We can destroy the country to the point they have to rebuild.

  • I oppose war, and think it should be avoided at all costs.

How does one know when diplomacy or economic sanctions have failed? The effort should be continued until hostile actions are of great cost to a neighbor or another country. Until North Korea has committed a great act of war, then economic sanctions can be substituted and, hopefully, their people will rise up and topple the bad government, as is happening in the Middle East now.

  • The U.S. should not wage war with North Korea, unless North Korea takes active action against the U.S.

The U.S. should not dictate to other countries regarding nuclear programs. The reason the U.S. does not want North Korea to have a nuclear program is to avoid war. Going to war to avoid war is silly. It is good to continue diplomatic efforts, but the U.S. has no business policing the world.

  • We should not wage war, as that will only increase the hostility they feel towards us.

History has shown that war doesn't solve problems, it only makes them bigger. Waging war will actually benefit the ideology of those in North Korea that already hate us. Our heavy-handed approach, and the nuclear weapons we possess and have used, are the reasons behind their desire to possess them, as well.

  • The United States should not wage war against North Korea if economic sanctions and diplomacy fail, because it is not the U.S.'s job to take care of the world.

If there should be a war against North Korea, it should be one that is agreed upon in the United Nations. It is not the U.S.'s job to make sure that the world is taken care of. Now, if there would have been a situation where they would have done something specifically against the U.S., then I could understand declaring war. But, not in this case.

  • We can't be expected to be the world's police any longer, unless we are paid to be by other countries or the UN.

The Marshall Plan and Monroe Doctrine are archaic and no longer should we be expected to pay the bill for the world's police actions with our money and our son's and daughter's blood. If it is truly that important to the world to keep North Korea from gaining nuclear technology, then let them pay us. Reduce the debt we owe to some of these countries, and let the others pay us.

  • The United States should not be going to war with North Korea, because in this case, we should mind our own business.

The United States needs to stay out of war with other countries. Although we need to protect ourselves, just because North Korea has nukes is no reason to go to war with them. Surely there are many countries, European and Asian, that have nukes and we only want to go to war with a select few of them. We need to mind our own business sometimes.

  • No, waging war against North Korea would be wrong, because of the harm that would be caused to the innocent.

War for any reason harms innocent people as a side effect, and is therefore wrong. Why should the U.S. be the only country allowed to have nuclear weapons?

  • I don't think that the United States should wage war with North Korea if economic sanctions and diplomacy fails to end their nuclear programs because wars cause suffering.

I don't believe that the United States should wage war with North Korea if economic sanctions and diplomacy fails to end their nuclear programs because wars cause suffering. Americans are already suffering enough as it is with the U.S. economy in the dumps. We need to learn from what the war on weapons of mass destruction cost us and not repeat the same mistakes again.

  • No, we neither can afford this financially or politically.

US policy makers need to learn important lessons from Iraq. Among these are that the threat of possessing a nuclear bomb is not equivalent to the desire to use it. Time and again North Korea has demonstrated the their own technology is in its infancy. If they acquire another nuclear weapon, they will more than likely only end up bombing themselves.

  • The United States should not wage war with North Korea. It is a no-win situation.

The United States must accept that other nations, despite their ideology, can not be told what war capabilities they can or can't have. The cat is out of the bag as far as nuclear capabilities. Our only option is very careful diplomacy and constant dialogue. The leader of North Korea is not stupid (angry and possibly deranged, but not stupid). They are not going to bomb us and if they want to, we cannot stop them. We need to quickly come to an understanding with them and find some common ground!

  • North Korea already has the power to devastate South Korea with conventional weapons, and a military attack on North Korea, even for preventing nuclear development, would benefit nobody.

Much of the North Korean army is constantly stationed and prepared to attack at the Demilitarized Zone, the 2.5-mile-length border with divides the North and the South, and South Korean cities are stationed just a few miles to the south of the border, and vice versa -- in any war, both Koreas would be devastated within a single day, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths on each side. In a state like this, any North Korean nuclear arsenal could only serve as an additional deterrent.

  • I do not support US to wage war

I do not believe war is the only option for any reason. And why should US wage war on North Korea, there are international organisations to tackle it. Moreover, the US attack may create pressure on North Korea to use Nuclear or chemical weapons if any to safeguard themselves or to retaliate.

  • We cannot force our rule upon other countries, while they may threaten our way of life, we are doing the same to them.

While I definitely understand the fear associated with North Korea having nuclear weapons, we fear them for threatening our lives & way of life. In retaliation for doing this we are threatening to attack them & placing sanctions on them that has little effect on their leaders, and much more on the citizens of the country. There are terrible humanitarian atrocities that happen all over the world, but it seems we only stick our nose into it when it benefits us.
