Should students be allowed to use cell phones in school?

Cell phones need to be left at home, or turned off, because they are too much of a distraction.

Cell phones are a distraction, and I believe schools should not allow the use of cell phones in school, by students or staff. It is getting very weird with cell phones. You see status updates from school-aged children on Facebook, when they should be in class or are in class. With smartphones, they can look up information on the phone to cheat on tests. I just think they need to be turned off, so teachers can do their jobs.
