Mobile devices would be great in schools. They can perform many functions that are helpful to students. There are a lot of great programs and apps that are helpful to learning information, such as math, reading, science and social studies. They also offer many research opportunities. Using mobile devices can help a lot.
As the technology grows, then the need for it in the classroom grows. I do think mobile devices can and should be used, yet there needs to be fair regulations on those items. If in one school district, one school has two mobile devices, and another school has one for each kid, that is just wrong. It happens, though. And strict regulations need to be put on teachers, as well, so the devices are not misused. I also don't think teachers should have access to their cell phones at all, during the day.
I believe that allowing mobile devices to be used in school is just succumbing to pressure from the students themselves. Since mobile devices are primarily used for socializing and entertainment, I think trying to integrate them into educational lessons would only be opening a Pandora's Box. More children would be distracted, rather than assisted, by the use of these devices.
