  • Yes, spending too much time on your computer can be bad.

I think that spending too much time on your computer can be bad because it can affect your health. It can cause eye damage, carpal tunnel, and can also cause headaches because of needing to focus on the computer all day. A person that is on the computer all the time should see a doctor about their eyesight, headaches, and carpal tunnel if they are experiencing any of these.

  • Doing too much of anything is bad, even if it's for work, or something you enjoy.

Doing too much of anything is always bad. On the computer, spending too much time means your eyes may fatigue and develop dryness, and your physical shape may deteriorate, due to lack of exercise and movement. It's ok to use the computer for extended periods of times, but one should also get around and move about in between periods of use.

  • Spending too much time on the computer is bad, by definition.

Of course, spending too much time on the computer is bad. Too much water is bad, too much pizza is bad, and too much of anything is bad. That's precisely what "too much" is. "Too much" is that very quantity which is excessive.

  • Yes, because too much time on computers means too little time with friends and family.

Too much time addicted to video games or Internet browsing means less time socializing in the real world. For example, one of my neighbors demands to play with my son in Modern Warfare 2 every night from 11-3, and gets angry if my son does not log in at that time. He has been married for only a year, and it is my belief that that marriage will not last long with this type of behavior.

  • Spending too much time on the computer is regretfully bad because it takes away from real life.

While computers have freed up new possibilities in our lives, using them too much is bad because it interferes with real life; that is, it detracts from daily activities. People spend too much time behind a keyboard instead of outside, enjoying the fresh air and getting exercise. It also takes away from personal interaction which is 'real life' in favor of impersonal online events.

  • I support the statement that spending too much time on your computer is bad, because you can become anti-social, and lose touch with reality.

People who spend too much time on their computers lose a sense of reality, and get angry when you point out that there is more to life than an Internet-based reality. People become addicted to being online, in chat rooms, looking at porn, or playing mindless games. This can almost ruin a person's life, if they aren't careful.

  • Spending too much time on the computer is not necessarily bad, depending on how you're using that time on it.

The primary purpose when the computer was first created was for calculations. So originally, the computer is not bad for people, but a helpful tool. It just depends on how people use it that determines whether it is poorly spent time. If we use the computer to socialize, work, or for entertainment, when feasible, I don't think there is a problem with that either.

  • Computers provide both an enlarged social perspective and an artificial reality, thus moderation is key.

The Internet has provided the ability to experience more of the world than ever before, communicating globally at any moment. However, those people who become too wrapped up in their computer demonstrate poor social skills, and lack a true connection to people. In this way, spending too much time on a computer can, in fact, be quite bad for a person. It also provides known health risks, including impairment to eyesight.

  • You do not get enough socialization or exercise.

If you sit and work on the computer all day you are losing muscle flexibility, strength and interrupting your bowels.

  • Too much computer time leads to less time for exercise and social activity.

The more time you spend on the computer, the less time you have left for exercise and social interaction. Young people of today are becoming increasingly overweight, due to an increased amount of screen time replacing play. Additionally, young people are becoming less adept at social interaction, because so much time is spent on the computer. E-mail and texting does not constitute social interaction. These two components will lead to a group of less healthy people.

  • Too much of anything is bad - that is the operative phrase here.

I make a living on my computer, so I spend at least 8 hours a day in front of this infernal box. But this is not excessive because I am working to support a family. However, if computer use is the sole form of interaction or occupation of one's mind and senses, then yes, that is excessive. Just like too much TV, too much internet leaves one lethargic and uninspired.

  • Modern day social networking is disabling people from having real interpersonal relationships.

There is something wrong with society today if people are getting proposed to, notified of important family events, and getting fired via internet. people are using the internet to do what they can't muster the courage to do face to face. Which is very sad. We are moving in the direction to complete reliance on internet interaction.

  • By definition, spending too much time on anything is bad because of what it interferes with.

Spending too much time on your computer takes time away from other things that are worthwhile. Maybe it means that you shirk your responsibilities to your family. Maybe it means that you neglect your health. Maybe it means that you miss out on what other people in the house are doing. The computer is a valuable tool and a good communications device, but there is much more to life than even the best computer. When it gets in the way of living a full and well-rounded life, you're spending too much time.

  • Yes, I agree that spending too much time on your computer is bad.

Spending too much time on your computer is a negative thing. It's proven that too much time on the computer causes eye strain, and can lead to worse problems, like dry eye and problems focusing. Also, time on the computer is stationary, and if you're spending too much time on it, you don't have enough time for physical activity, and everyone knows that obesity is a huge problem facing North America.

  • Spending too much time on your computer can hurt your social interactions in the real world.

Spending too much time on your computer can hurt your social interactions in the real world. That said, the definition of how much time is too much would have to be defined further in order to refine my opinion. There are plenty of people who spend all day on the computer because that is the kind of work they do and that is not too much in my opinion, if that is the nature of their jobs.

  • Spending too much time on your computer is not bad, because it is a gateway to a vast source of knowledge.

Technology is always changing and evolving at an extremely fast rate. Being on the computer is being a part of this. It allows us to evolve technologically, allowing us to innovate changes for our future. Some of the smartest people I know are on the computer all the time.

  • I disagree that spending too much time on your computer is bad. You may have a job on the computer.

I disagree with the statement that spending too much time on your computer is bad. I myself tend to spend to much time on the computer, but I believe that if you find yourself doing something good on it, like gaining skills, then you are doing something important. For one, the computer has many areas of places that you can enjoy doing. Such as watching movies, reading books, looking at tutorials. I do a lot of researching on the computer for school and believe that it helps a lot.
