  • Competition helps the students to push themselves harder.

I am a big believer that high expectations should be set in education. People tend to work down to the level of mediocrity required, unless they are challenged. Using competition carefully can help to spur students to do more than they knew they were capable of.

  • Competition always creates better motivation and, therefore, higher measures of success, which includes learning.

For better or worse, competition is basic human nature. When forced to compete, people will strive harder and, thus, inevitably create a better result. This includes learning. We must push students to do their best, and reach for excellence. This is not only good for their learning, it is also good for them when they reach the real world, as real life is also competition.

  • I think competition is learning itself and a way of life.

I think Competition is life it self.for every successful man compete before actualising their dream.so there is no geting or running our from it.for every thing you do u must compete.it is nt jst necessary in the learning process, but it is learning it self.competition is a very good motivational factor since motivation is a fire from within.if someone else tries to light that fire under u,chances are it wil burn very briefly.there i think competition is what that build a man to any level of life.in schools competition is d key component of learning and learning itself.in a mans life it is life itself.there is no running away from it.

  • Competition is a way of Life

Life is a competition, we compete in everything we do, their is no getting around it, we can try to fool ourselves that it does not or should not exist in certain settings but it does. We should not make competition out to be a bad thing, because it is really a good motivational factor. When we as individuals try to excel, we compete against ourselves to make ourselves better, if we are at the top of our game, we have to challenge ourselves in order to remain at the top of our game. In all avenues of life and work, the chances of you as an individual being the only one that is striving to reach a certain goal is hardly ever the case. It would be fair to say, their will always be others that are also striving for that goal, so yes their is a level of competition. We as individuals can either accept that or push it off to the side and be complacent, but the ones who keep this thought in the back of their mind are normally the ones who keep on pushing forward and being successful.

  • Competition is good for everything.

It really does not matter what is involved. Competition helps to improve everything. When people or businesses compete it makes us strive to become better or to put out a better product. This country always strives to have the best of everything. And when we have better learning capabilities, everything improves.

  • Competition is not necessary for any kind of growth. We should instead focus on individual strengths.

Competition is not necessary for any kind of growth. We should instead focus on individual strengths. Many children are not motivated by competition and so because of this they actually do worse. It is better to focus on what someone is good at, and find a way to place them in the working world. There should be enough jobs for everyone. Sweden is a good model of this.

  • Competition should be part of the learning process, as it provides motivation for students to achieve.

Competition in life is inevitable. One of the goals of our educational system should be to prepare students for life outside the classroom; therefore, competition should belong. It provides motivation, and shows areas in which the student may need to improve. With that said, it is important to note, competition shouldn't be the exclusive goal of education, but a key component.

  • Yes, I believe competition is necessary in the learning process because it naturally occurs in most aspects of our lives.

Competition is healthy, natural and can be a valuable learning tool. If you miss a question in a learning game in math, you will not forget that question next time you see it. Everyone wants to win no matter how small the victory. We engage in competition every day with ourselves, co-workers and even some of our family members.

  • There should be a healthy competition for the improvement of the study.

A healthy competition is necessary for everyone for their improvement, not only in the educational field but in all other fields. For making an improvement in the learning process, we should achieve more. How much more is the competition. When we achieve more marks or a higher grade than someone else, that is an improvement and also a competition. If we have competitors, then only there will be interest for improvement.

  • Competition provides an impetus for learning so yes, it should be a part.

Eliminating competition from schools is a misguided attempt at ensuring that no one's self-esteem gets trampled. But, real self-esteem is built by achieving small victories, and that is where competition serves a purpose. Vying to be the best is a good thing since it gives us a standard against which to judge our performance and a goal to work toward.

  • The educational system is competitive enough.

Children and adolescents have a lot of things to contend with in the world today. It's unfair to make schooling more competitive. While children and adolescents should absolutely be rewarded for doing well, competition only serves to divide student populations and pit students against each other. I think that rewarding great work with flexibility in scheduling or other aspects of students' lives would be a much better idea.

  • Competition is not necessary in the learning process, because competition actually detracts from the learning process.

Competition has a place in sports and business, but it really has no place in the classroom. Competition often teaches young people that it is acceptable to behave aggressively, in a somewhat bullying way, as long as you achieve your goal and get what you want. Because all students do not learn at the same rate or have the same skills, it can make other students feel inferior. Learning should be confined to learning skills that enhance the quality of life, not make everything competitive.

  • No, competition is not necessary, because it leads to unfair treatment of different types of people.

This is a tricky subject to tackle. I am going to look at competition as it is in America. In schools, a lot of children are given more tools to learn with. So if everyone is competing to be the best and get the best job, then the people with less opportunities will not have the chance to excel as much as the other kids.

  • No, because competition is not a sufficient motivator for all students.

Competition is only helpful in the learning process when individual students either have the natural tendency toward being motivated by competition, or when this tendency is nurtured by their family. Many families and individuals regard competition as useless and damaging, and choose not to partake. Much of the learning process is fueled by simple curiosity, and by the return of self-respect and a broadened perspective that one receives by learning new things.

  • Competition should not be the impetus for learning.

Competition is not a valid part of the learning process. A person should learn because they want to become more enriched and help themselves. Learning is not as useful a process if the person does not want to learn. Furthermore, individuals have different learning processes and competition is not necessarily going to drive someone to want to learn more.

  • Competition is not necessary at all, in the learning environment.

Learning should be the highest concern, not being better than everyone else. That just leads to an acidic attitude between competing students. People should learn in their own way, and not have to worry about being better than other people.

  • No, I think it puts unnecessary pressure on people.

I don't see any reason for there to be competition in order to learn something. It puts too much pressure on people, and the stress of it could cause them to just give up, if they think there's no hope and everyone is passing them by. People should be allowed to learn at their own pace, to absorb the knowledge, not just memorize it quickly and forget it or lose interest altogether because they can't keep up.

  • Competition is not necessary in the learning process.

As human beings, we naturally thirst for knowledge. We do not need to compete against someone else for that desire. If competition was a necessity then children would never learn to walk or talk. It is the desire to be able to communicate and the desire for human companionship that teaches us these things at a young age. However, competition can be a healthy thing when it comes to learning. As we age, we develop the desire for praise and completeness. With competitions in place, there may be more of a reason to learn for some. With winning the competition comes praise and acknowledgment, and these are two things as human beings we crave. As well losing a competition will provide us with the drive to learn more so that the praise and acknowledgment will belong to us the next time.
