  • Technology is invading our freedom to think and work by dumbing us down, as well as by being used to monitor our every move and word.

Technology has eradicated the need for us to use our brains for daily basics like math, spelling, and even telling the time. Spell check, calculators, and digital readouts do simple tasks that used to be carried out by hand. This has certainly dulled our basic skills. The next biggest hindrance created by technology is the ability to observe and record a persons every public action, statement, and purchase. Everything you do in public is recorded somehow or somewhere. All of these things impede our freedom to act, speak, work, play, or think freely and independently.

  • Advanced technology has become invasive.

Advanced technology has made living in the world a bit more claustrophobic. Cameras on street corners, government surveillance of Internet use, and surveillance of our individual whereabouts via GPS signals from cellular phones and smart phones have created a state of the human condition comparable to George Orwell's 1984. People are being highly controlled in today's world.

  • Yes, because its disruptions are rising quickly, and we are suffering for it.

What were you thinking a moment ago? What interrupted that train of thought? Years ago, it might be a passing car's horn, a child's shout, or a barking dog. A phone ringing might do it as well. Today's list includes cell phone rings, text message notices, instant message pop ups, and inane Facebook "pokes" that are nothing more than a digital "look at me!" that may not even signify a desire to talk. Add in pop-up ads, software update notices, and a world of warning beeps merely for walking by, and advancing technology generates information overload. The human mind struggles then to assign a priority and react to the prompting or notification. There is no time to actually stop and think in depth. Even those choosing to tune out by listening to their own headphones and phone conversations have interruptions of low batteries, ads, and others saying "wait a minute, someone's paging me".

  • Yes, because technology simplifies thought and is distracting.

I feel that technology interferes with our ability to think and work, for one, by making information to accessible. We can simply look something up, the answer is there, and we don't have to think or explore the subject. Then, technology, with games, Facebook on the go, and texting, provides constant distraction, so we cannot focus on thinking or working.

  • Advanced technology is just the next step in our human evolution.

Advanced technology is the next logical step in our evolution as humans. We are visionaries and creators at heart, and we will always strive for the next great invention. We find ways of making our life easier, from the assembly line of Henry Ford, to the cell phone, we have always looked at how to make life and work easier.

  • Advanced technology isn't at fault, as it has no impact on our freedom to think or work.

Technology can only "invade" our freedom and work if we let it. It's just a tool used by humans to make life easier and, in other cases, fun. Thousands of years ago, humans didn't have even half of the amount of information we have now. Though many express that we live in an "information overloaded" society now, I feel that having so much data at our fingertips actually improves our minds and our lives. How you choose to use that information is up to you.

  • Advanced technology makes thinking and working easier, and it's only invasive if we let it be.

In the age of information and digital resources, freedom to think and work are actually expanded. With wireless communications and mobile Internet devices, work can be done pretty much anywhere at anytime, not just in an office during banker's hours. That is more freedom than a generation ago. Freedom of thought has grown, too, as information, knowledge, opinion and debate are constantly available online. It is true that technology can overrun someone's life, but that's not technology's fault.

  • Advanced technology has no impact on our freedom to think and work because, while society may use technology in negative ways, the technology itself is not the issue.

Advanced technology may appear to be taking control of people's everyday life, but technology is just a by-product of our social structure. Human beings have been living together and supporting one another for thousands of years. Part of that process has been developing methods and tools to make life easier. Just as a hammer can be used to threaten a person or to build a house, advanced technology can be used in an attempt to control people or to improve people's lives. If advanced technology invades a person's freedoms, then it is society's application of the technology that is to blame, not the technology.

  • Advanced technology is not invading our freedom to think and work, because it is just a tool.

Advanced technology is just a tool which humans use to make work easier. On a very basic level, is it easier and faster to move dirt with your hands, a shovel, or a bulldozer? With computers, we perform calculations that would take hours or days using pencil and paper. Computers give us access to massive amounts of data instantly, speeding up our thinking process.

  • Advanced technology is not taking over us, but rather helping us make life easier to live.

We have automatic sprinklers in our homes, making us a bit safer than in the earlier centuries, when one had to run down to the creek and fetch water to put out the fire in his neighbor's house. While technology can have an adverse effect on humanity, it is better if we understand it and use it to our advantage. Compare countries that have embraced the use of technology (U.S. and Japan), and countries that have suppressed its citizens from advancing (North Korea and Afghanistan). While some of these countries have other issues hindering them from moving forward, if they were allowed to freely embrace technology, they will grow.

  • Advanced technology is not invading our freedom to think and work, because it is instead helping our abilities.

With advanced technology comes a better ability to perform our work and increase our thinking. Yes, we now have computers that will do our simple tasks, along with some of the more difficult ones. However, as human beings, we still need to understand how the tasks are done in order to satisfy our insatiability for knowledge. Also, since computers cannot build themselves, we will always need those with the intelligence and talent to build and program them to do these tasks.
